A native of Pearl, MS, Karen has lived in Georgia since August 2014. Karen graduated from the University of Mississippi in December 2009 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science. Following the completion of her bachelor’s degree, she attended the University of Arkansas and graduated with a Master of Athletic Training degree in May 2012. Karen has served as an athletic trainer in the high school, collegiate, and orthopedic clinical settings. After several years as an athletic trainer, she decided to complete her educational goals by earning a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree in June 2021 from South College in Knoxville, TN. Karen joins Team Rehab – McDonough after working as a student physical therapist at Team Rehab – Midtown for 2 clinical rotations.
While Karen specializes in sports medicine, she enjoys treating all populations of patients with orthopedic injuries. She is certified in Dry Needling through the Spinal Manipulation Institute, and has a special interest in dry needling with the use of electrical stimulation for pain relief, improved mobility and function, and recovery. She has plans to pursue her manual therapy certification in the near future. Karen also serves as adjunct faculty in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at South College – Atlanta campus. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, trying different restaurants, watching movies, and attending some of the many concerts and festivals that Atlanta has to offer.
