I was born into a family of Florida/Georgia farmers. I grew up in Atlanta. I studied literature and languages at the University of Georgia. After college I went on to work as a translator and then, after pursuing my PhD, as a professor of literature and writing. A series of injuries led to my having physical therapy in midlife, and the rehabilitation I went through led to my pursuing a new career in physical therapy. Graduating from physical therapy school in 2014, I embarked upon a career in outpatient physical therapy focusing primarily upon working with neurological and vestibular disorders in people with complex medical histories. Gradually I branched out into a broader array of clients with musculoskeletal disorders. I am interested in continuing to develop my skills in manual therapy while I refine my understanding of the many presentations that people seeking our services bring to us. Apart from work, I enjoy reading across a broad array of subjects, listening to music (mostly jazz, the blues and classical), weightlifting, hiking and backpacking, paddle boarding and kayaking, and swimming, I also enjoy Tai Chi and yoga. I live with my two dogs and my cat in a little house in the woods, and I spend time with my friends and family when I can. I would love to see the whole world if I could, preferably with good company.
