Emily Birney
Emily has been treating patients with Team Rehab since December of 2020 as a float clinician and is so delighted to be a full time team member at Team Rehab Bucktown! Emily earned her Bachelor’s degree in Sociology (Pre-PT) with a minor in healthcare ethics from Loyola University Chicago in 2013 and completed her PTA training at Oakton Community College in Des Plaines in 2017. Her clinical interests range from cervical and temporomandibular joint dysfunction to patients with numerous post-operative statuses, including, but not limited to hip labral and meniscal repairs. She also holds her Graston Technique and Blood Flow Restriction certifications as treatments for manual and strengthening interventions.
Emily looks forward to helping each and every patient move towards achieving his/her goals with the most updated evidence-based research and treatment tools. Educating each patient and equipping them with the tools to recreate the patient experience at home, she is confident everyone she works with will only achieve new successes. Emily’s desire is for all patients to return to whatever it is that they enjoy doing–be that working, gardening, competing in sporting events, or any other activity.
Emily grew up in Oak Lawn, and now resides on the north side of Chicago with her husband and two young daughters. She loves working with swimmers and water polo players, as she participated in both aquatic sports since her youth through college. In her spare time, Emily enjoys spending time with her friends and family, hiking, and meditating. Emily also enjoys trying new restaurants and attempting to keep plants alive!
